Jim Spearing is a political consultant that has represented law enforcement in Florida for the past 25 years. Along the way, Mr. Spearing has managed political campaigns at both the state and local level, conducted issue campaigns on behalf of police and fire fighter organizations, and is a published author on news media relations. Mr. Spearing is also a veteran presenter of training seminars for government employees on a wide range of topics including customer service, workplace relations, media coaching and ethics.
Mr. Spearing served as a lobbyist for the Florida Police Benevolent Association representing over 36,000 law enforcement and corrections officers for 25 years and currently consults on media crisis management. He also assists organizations with planning and executing public information campaigns as well as media relations coaching for agency or organization spokespersons.
Mr. Spearing is a co-author of Police Associations, Power, Politics and Confrontation and is a graduate of Florida State University with a B.A. in Political Science with honors.
Mr. Spearing served our nation in the U.S. Army from 1976 to 1980 and volunteered for the first Gulf War in 1990-91. He was an infantry instructor at the USAR Primary Leadership Development School in Jacksonville, Florida and has been awarded the Army Commendations Medal for meritorious service.
Jim is the owner of JMS Associates, his consulting firm of over 30 years based in Tallahassee, Florida.
